Land of the Lost news from around the world and beyond
(The oldest items start at the bottom of the page)

LOTL70 = the three seasons of the original Land of the Lost television series of the 1970s featuring the Marshall family.
LOTL90 = the two seasons of the Land of the Lost television series of 1990s featuring the Porter family.

Cha-ka vs. Sleestak

Here are a couple of amusing Cha-ka and Sleestak drawings by artist Bob Canada on flickr.com: Cha-ka vs. Sleestak and
Cha-ka Has a Sna-ka.

Rhyme of the Ancient Guardian

Another LOTL-related item from our friends at Lady, That's My Skull, this time posted on flickr. I have a ton of old Starlog issues, but missed this one somehow. I even remember seeing thumbnails of all the Starlog covers in the past, including this one, but never quite looked at it closely enough to realize that it was the Lost City and Big Alice on the cover! Click on the cover image to visit flickr and begin reading.
I noticed something on page 3 of the article. There is a photo of the Grumpy stop-motion model with a figure in the background. The caption on the image explains,
"The man-sized figure in the background is used to line up the live action with the stop-motion sequences as they are transferred to video-tape. The figure is kept in the frame while the TV cameras line the live action with the filmed dinosaurs. The model only appears in the first few feet that are used for this alignment and then is removed when the live action and film are taped."
The background figure looks a lot like the shape of the Altrusian guardian statue from the episode "Ancient Guardian." Maybe this make-shift figure was the inspiration for the script?

The Marshalls (Season  Three) - Part 2

Part 2 of
this hilarious spoof of our Krofft favorite, featuring Wil, Holi, Uncle Jack Daniels and Shaka! Guest-starring Dr. Who, Conan the Barbarian and many more.

Assault on High Bluff

Here is an awesome piece of art by Ben Mackey! Click the thumbnail to go to his posting on DeviantART. I like the 3 crossbow bolts imbedded in Will’s shoulder, the blood on Rick’s sleeve, the animal look on Cha-ka’s face. Like a mature version of Land of the Lost.

Also, check out his stylized (Mignola-ized?) Sleestak
!

Seeing it Again for the First Time

Tom Luthman blogs about recently watching the complete series of LOTL70 episodes and realizes he must have missed all or most of the 2nd and 3rd season as a kid!

The Altrusian Flan is to Die For

A hilarious account of a horrifying anecdote...Sleestaks at Six Flags! Trust me, it's right up there with "I Was Kidnapped by Bigfoot!"

A New Age for the Land of the Lost

Here's a blog entry by Shannon Day on the LOTL movie. Plus, a column about the fun of having her own LOTL Christa action figure.

Where Turok Meets the Land of the Lost

T. lex
got a nod in the blog of Rob Schmidt,
Newspaper Rock - Where Native America Meets Popular Culture. Rob comments on my episode study of "Medicine Man" which features the Nez Perce character of Lone Wolf (and whom I compare to comic book character Turok).

Another Parallel Universe?

Is this another parallel universe version of the Marshalls? No, just Lost List member (and LOTL fanatic) Jerry Leighton and daughter Natalie, all made up as the Marshall patriarch with torch in hand and his perky daughter Holly for a visit to their local theater to see the Land of the Lost movie! Sweet! Way to go, guys!
"Careful, honey, there's Sleestaks everywhere." "Come on, Dad! We're going to miss the movie!"

Beware of Jared

A Subway restaurant in Santa Monica, CA is being transformed into the Land of the Lost on Thursday, May 28, 2009. It's a stunt to promote the opening of the movie on June 5. From prehistoric vines and rocks draping the store to Sleestak and a T. rex on the roof, the restaurant will be fully transformed. In attendance at the event will be director Brad Silberling and producers Sid & Marty Krofft, as well as Sleestak from the film; Chuck's Zachary Levi. Check out the details here.
